Art Hokey Cokey

Towards the end of the second year of my Fine Art degree course, I was part of a group collaboration project. We were curators - and our aim was to produce a concept or theme for an exhbition.

We thought differently. Instead of happen an open air or indoor, physical exhibition space in which we would gather artists' work and display them for a week or so, we decided to have a solely online showcase of art. Our interests were how artwork is viewed upon different when placed in different locations. It can read in a completley unique way just is in how our own work using this transformation as a tool to be subversive and suggestive.

And so, our project was born! Art Hokey Cokey is all about the work IN the studio, and how it can be read differently OUT of the studio - as goes the old jingle, "In, out, in , out, shake it all about."

There were some downsides to this concept however. Most notably, that alot of artists didnt seem to get it. We recieve entries of one image of a piece in the studio, and one or two outside (or anywhere in which it is subversive or funny). Nevertheless, we felt that our online platform and overall online concept was a success.
